Human rights Training Programme 2006

How Rights Work

An introduction to the Human Rights Act

Are you interested in human rights?

Would you like to deepen your knowledge of how rights work in practice?

Would you like to receive introductory training on human rights?

This new training programme by the Northern Ireland Human Rights Commission consists of a series of half-day workshops taking place in your area for people interested in human rights work.

The aim of the programme is to increase awareness of what human rights are and how they work, especially in relation to the Human Rights Act 1998.

These workshops are at an introductory level and intended for staff and volunteers in the community and voluntary sectors.   No legal knowledge about human rights is needed.  The session will build on participants’ experience, and explore:

bullet

what rights are

bullet

what is in the Human Rights Act 1998

bullet

how rights work when they are in conflict, and

bullet

some practical implications for work in the community and voluntary sector.
