26 November 2002 Law Centre takes test case against NIHE on neighbour intimidation.  Press release
14 November 2002 Due to printing problems and Post Office procedural changes, posting of the Information Packs to our membership is being delayed this year.  However, all members should receive their copies before the end of November.

Please note, the personal allowances for children in Income Support, JSA (IB) and Housing Benefit have increased since October, but the Information Packs were written prior to the changes and do not reflect these changes.  Please amend these accordingly when receiving packs:

  • child from first Monday in the Sept following the 16th birthday: £37.80
  • child from birth to first Monday in the Sept following the 16th birthday: £37.00

20 June 2002 Refugee Action Group (RAG) has published 'Forced to Flee', a booklet answering frequently asked questions about refugees and asylum seekers in Northern Ireland, with support from the Equality Commission.  Click here.

RAG was established in 2001 by a group of voluntary organisations, refugees and others with an interest in asylum seeker and refugee matters.  The group includes Amnesty International Belfast Group, Amnesty International Northern Ireland, Barnardo's, Cooperative Forum (NI), Democratic Dialogue, Law Centre (NI), Mercy Justice Office Belfast, Multi-Cultural Resource Centre, NI African Cultural Centre, One World Centre.

26 April 2002 Farewell to Pat Miskimmin

Pat Miskimmin, a long standing volunteer with the Law Centre, died last month.  Pat is greatly missed by everyone at the Centre. We have lost an exceptional colleague and a great friend.
