New Law Centre Policy Responses

Four new policy responses from the Law Centre are now online. They can be found on the Policy Response page, or by clicking on the title below:

Flexible working and time to train

The Law Centre is in favour of extending the right to request flexible working to all employees. However, we argue that the right is relatively weak and should be strengthened if it is to bring about positive change to work practices.

Northern Ireland Funding Code on legal aid

We welcome the Legal Services Commission’s commitment to ensure that public funds are directed at targeting social need.  We urge the Commission to take this work forward by developing community legal services and reviewing the financial eligibility for legal aid.

Dormant bank and building society account scheme

Comments on the development of the spending priorities, policy framework & funding programmes for the Dormant Bank & Building Society Accounts Scheme in NI.

Earning the right to stay: A points based system for citizenship

We oppose UKBA’s proposal to introduce a points based test for citizenship.
