21^st Century Welfare outlines options for the government’s radical reform of the complex social security system.  Our response cautions that the new arrangements must work administratively and also meet the aims of continuing to support those in need and reduce poverty. Our response highlights some Northern Irish specific issues and recommends that Northern Ireland examines the scope for variations in welfare reform that acknowledge its unique conditions while maintaining an overall direction of travel followed in Britain.
