Belfast Pride 2022: Law Centre NI proud to walk in solidarity with LGBTQIA+ people seeking sanctuary in Northern Ireland

1st August, 2022

We had a fantastic time at Belfast Pride 2022 - a wonderful celebration of the LGBTQIA+ community.

For the first time, staff, family and friends from Law Centre NI walked in the parade and we used the occasion to carry our unwavering message that refugees and asylum seekers are welcome in Northern Ireland.

Niamh Rowan from the Migration Justice Project at Law Centre NI said:

“Our message at this year’s Pride was clear. Refugees and asylum seekers are welcome in Northern Ireland. We were so proud to walk in the Belfast Pride Parade for the first time and in solidarity with refugees and asylum seekers who have come to Northern Ireland for safety and sanctuary.

Pride is an amazing celebration, but it also has its roots in protest and the struggle for rights. Our Migration Justice Project will continue to proudly advocate for the rights of refugees and asylum seekers in Northern Ireland, including those from the LGBTQIA+ community, and make sure the message is seen and heard – that refugees are welcome here.”

Thank you Belfast Pride.
