Good work: building a fair employment environment in Northern Ireland *event postponed*

Law Centre NI is hosting a seminar to explore how we can make Northern Ireland a better place to work and do business.

Northern Ireland’s employment figures are at record high levels, while unemployment figures have hit record lows. However, workers here are still waiting for average real-terms earnings to reach the level they were at in 2009, over ten years ago. In addition, Northern Ireland has seen a growth of insecure employment and casualisation – as also seen elsewhere in the UK and Ireland. In short, while people are more likely than ever to be in a job, they’re also less likely to have a ‘good job’.

In this seminar we will explore how we can improve the quality of jobs in Northern Ireland. We will bring together business and workers’ representatives, alongside civil servants, researchers, academics and the third sector. Together, they will consider how we can build a fair employment landscape, in which everyone has access to a good job.
