Law Centre NI publishes our Frequently Asked Questions document

The Green Paper highlights numerous proposals which will have a significant impact upon the welfare system. To assist the advice sector and individuals with queries that they may have, we have published our Frequently Asked Questions document which can be viewed here.

We have written to MPs to highlight our concerns in relation to these proposals, and Law Centre NI CEO Eddie Lynch comments,

‘Law Centre NI is concerned at the potential disproportionate impact on new claimants with mental health conditions and the lack of consultation on many proposed key changes in the Green Paper. The Government should broaden its consultation so that those impacted, and their representative organisations, have an opportunity to communicate their concerns. It is imperative that clarity is provided to individuals and the advice sector on these matters’.

Throughout this consultation process, we will continue engaging with elected representatives, the Department for Work and Pensions, Department of Communities and advice sector colleagues. We will be hosting an Advisor Network Meeting on Friday 25th April from 11am – 12 noon to discuss the Green Paper, which you can sign up for here: https://forms.office.com/e/jFMfdRNKMs

As we continue to advocate for a stronger social security system, we welcome engagement from interested parties in relation to our work on this matter and for more information please contact Holly Knox, Policy and Community Engagement Officer, at holly.knox@lawcentreni.org
