Statement from the Cliff Edge Coalition 

”The Cliff Edge Coalition welcomes the Chancellor’s commitment to remove the two-child limit from April 2026 in the 2025 Autumn Budget.

As a longstanding key ask of the Coalition, we have campaigned tenaciously for many years to secure this vital policy change. It will positively impact many families and children and will lead to a significant reduction in child poverty levels across Northern Ireland.

We would like to thank our members for their continued dedication and support to the work of the Coalition, and we would like to thank our elected representatives who have advocated for the removal of this policy.

We will continue our efforts to advocate for a stronger social security system. This will include our campaign to remove the benefit cap, and we thank the NI Executive for their continued mitigation of the benefit cap.

This achievement shows just how much can be accomplished when we work together.”
