Statement from the Cliff Edge Coalition
‘’In advance of the UK Government’s Autumn Budget 2025, the Cliff Edge Coalition call on the Chancellor to abolish the two-child limit.
As a key ask of the Coalition, we have long campaigned for the removal of the two-child limit which continues to disproportionately impact families and children across Northern Ireland. Abolishing this policy would represent an investment in children, families, communities, and the wider local economy.
The Coalition’s briefing paper on the two-child limit can be viewed here.
The Coalition have continued to successfully campaign to strengthen support for those who are most in need, securing an extension to the Welfare Supplementary Payments for the Benefit Cap until 31 March 2028.
However, there is much more to be done. As poverty continues to deepen across NI, we remain deeply committed to advocating for a stronger and more effective social security system and will continue to engage with elected representatives to secure meaningful reforms that protect and support those most in need.”
