Statement from the Cliff Edge Coalition
“The Cliff Edge Coalition calls upon our local elected representatives to confirm their support for the removal of the two-child limit.
As the Universal Credit (Removal of the Two Child Limit) Bill progresses through Parliament in advance of the policy’s removal from April 2026, we seek clarity and assurance that legislation to secure this change will be progressed in Northern Ireland with the same urgency. We ask for details of the expected timeframe that the Executive are working to.
We thank those who have supported our campaign, as it is clear the removal of this policy is a critical step towards the eradication of poverty. Children and families must be supported through a robust, accessible and resourced social security system – we cannot afford further delay.”
