The launch of the Anti-Poverty Strategy Group

Law Centre NI is a proud member of the Anti-Poverty Strategy Group and was pleased to join fellow members yesterday at Parliament Buildings for the Group’s launch event.

At this event, we joined with colleagues from across the sector to call for the delivery and implementation of the much needed Anti-Poverty Strategy.

Poverty levels across Northern Ireland are increasing: 18% (349,000) individuals live in relative poverty and 14% (271,000) individuals live in absolute poverty. (1) Additionally the number of children living in poverty is increasing; 24% (109,000) live in relative poverty (an increase upon 18% in the previous year), and 19% (86,000) live in absolute poverty (an increase upon 15% in the previous year).(2)

At Law Centre NI, we remain dedicated to working with our colleagues across the Sector to call for the Anti-Poverty Strategy to be implemented without further delay to help those who are most in need across our society.
