Briefing: Evidence on mental capacity bill (2015)

In this evidence to the Ad Hoc Joint Committee on the Mental Capacity Bill, we are content with the Bill's compliance with the United Nations Convention on the Rights of Persons with Disabilities. However, we are concerned that the Bill may not be fully compliant with article 8 of the European Convention on Human Rights in its requirements of respect for private and family life.

Response: Mental capacity bill (2014)

We welcome the publication of the draft Mental Capacity Bill as a key milestone to achieving progressive and rights-based reform of mental health legislation. We have provided a clause-by-clause response to the draft Bill and a response to both of the policy proposals for children and young people and for the criminal justice system.
