Introduction to Benefits

18th January, 2021 | 08:00am

This course is the ideal starter for those who are working with clients impacted by the social security benefits system; for those who wish to obtain a basic knowledge to enable them to signpost and support their clients in an informed way as they attempt to navigate a complex and changing system.

For flexibility and ease of access we have developed this as an online course. Once registered you can complete the self-directed learning at your convenience, with tutor support just a click away. It should take 6 hours to complete though you can revisit sections as often as you need to.

Cost

At just £45 for those working in the community/voluntary sector, the NHS or registered charities and £55 for others, this represents remarkable value for money.

What does the course cover?

  • The social security benefits system in Northern Ireland.
  • Categories of benefits.
  • Basic principles of disputing a benefit decision.

Who is it for?

This training is designed for people who want a introduction to the benefits system or who work with clients impacted by benefits. It is also a useful introduction to benefits for non-benefits advisers.

You will have access to a course tutor whose expertise will be underpinned by Law Centre NI's expert legal and policy team.
