PIP research to influence future policy decisions in Northern Ireland

Law Centre NI is working alongside Mencap NI and the All Party Group on Learning Disability to carry out research on Personal Independent Payment (PIP).

As part of the project a survey is being conducted to understand people”s experience of the PIP process. This research will feed into a final report which will be launched at Stormont at the end of October 2019.

Megan Millar, Policy Officer at Law Centre NI said: “This research comes at a vital time and aims to inform and influence future policy decisions. The Northern Ireland Public Services Ombudsman has launched an “own initiative” investigation into PIP and the results of this collaborative research will provide a useful resource for the Ombudsman’s investigation.”

“Additionally, the next independent review of PIP in NI is due to take place next year and it is important to build up a body of evidence ahead of that time. Law Centre NI research has already played a key role in influencing the first independent review last year.”

“If you are a claimant or have supported a claimant, we would like to hear your experiences. We are also asking organisations to share the survey within their own networks to capture as diverse an audience as possible.”

The survey closes in three weeks. You can complete it here.
